About this project
The team at Bokksu wanted to develop multiple e-commerce apps under the umbrella of Bokksu that would allow consumers to enjoy the culture and flavors of Japan. This included apps with a wide variety of snack boxes and grocery items which would be shipped all across the world. The purpose of the development of such a project was to bridge the gap between Japanese Culture and others. Our task was to develop a modern one-of-a-kind app store with Shopify at the base that would handle multiple advanced features of multi-cart and multi-subscription systems, among many others.
The Client
At the inception of the Bokksu project, the client initially employed a rudimentary Shopify application, which proved to be limited in functionality and lacked essential features. The owners of Bokksu wanted to bring the unique flavors of Japan to the world in the form of a global e-commerce store. This envisioned application would showcase bespoke themes tailored to captivate customers from diverse cultural backgrounds, enticing them to explore and indulge in the assortment of snack boxes and curated items from Japan. Customers would have the liberty to manage their orders through a customer-centric portal and would have a streamlined purchasing experience across various product categories.
Challenge
Bokksu wanted to expand their operations and add multiple features to their app while Shopify provided limited options. They needed a team of experts to build custom logic and create functions that Shopify did not allow. Bokksu not only has snacks but also offers other items and categories to browse through. Bokksu Market, Bokksu snack box, and Bokksu Boutique are examples of the fast-growing network that Bokksu has created. With the help of Devigital Systems as their development partners which resulted in massive sales, Bokksu was able to expand their market.. Faced with the risk of not being able to handle a large clientele, Bokksu came to us for speedy development of new features, implementation of custom logic, and performing adequate quality assurance steps to ensure a bug-free app
We aimed to design the store in a way that would handle a high volume of sales and allow customers to make multiple purchases in different categories with the same checkout facility. Our team of developers made sure to constantly refactor the code to stay updated with the Shopify modules and keep performing an overall revamping of the app to prevent the Bokksu Web App from any downtime or crashes. We remained constantly in touch with the client to avoid any communication gap. With our track record of successful deliveries, we ensured the proper working of another big app and provided the release on time with quality assured.

Technical Challenges
Our team encountered multiple technical challenges which they solved efficiently. The crucial challenges included:
Subscription Management: The first step was to design a subscription management system using recharge API where the customer could manage their subscription and its status, such as active/deactivate/pause which we successfully achieved.
Multi-Cart System: The consumer has the liberty to shop from different categories that are present in the web store. Each category could have different promotions and discounts, therefore we devised and implemented a multi-cart system so the corresponding category item will go to its respective cart.
Custom Checkout: The app offered multiple categories to shop from and the selected items would go to their respective carts, therefore we designed a system for delivery with multiple shipping methods that would have the same checkout. This custom checkout was designed using react and node.
Collaborative Environment using Builder.io We utilized Builder.io to ensure a smooth collaboration between our developers and content creators. Developers would create a structure using Next.js and synchronize it with Builder.io to make it easier to understand for designers, marketers, and other content creators.
Gamification During the Holiday Season: To keep the buyers interested, our team had to design custom themes with gamification to fit the holiday requirements. This is an ongoing challenge and is conquered every holiday season.
Client Portal: We also developed a customized client portal where the customer could manage their orders, check their order history, and manage their subscriptions.
Objective
The owners of Bokksu spotted a huge market for their snack products once they brought their home treats to their friends in America. There was a whole market craving these unique tastes but no one to supply them. With that came the idea of Bokksu, an online store that would bring the flavors of Japan to any other country. Not just snacks, Bokksu expanded to the boutique as well as a market that would supply Asian grocery essentials to the buyers.
We had to efficiently develop multiple advanced-level functionalities along with custom logic to handle multiple buyers and we were successfully able to achieve this within short deadlines by working tirelessly for one of our biggest clients.
Scope
We had to work quickly on multiple features to ensure the smooth functioning of the app. One of the major requirements was to establish coordination using Builder.io which was achieved successfully. The project underwent rigorous testing to deliver a bug-free app. We were able to develop a modern e-commerce web app suitable for handling large customers and totally compliant with the ADA
Peer Review
The testing began by checking the functionality of the features and ensuring that it works with multiple users. Not only the team at Devigital Systems but also the team at Bokksu did the testing of the app. Throughout the project execution, we kept the client aware of the development, testing, and deployment work going on the project. Bokksu is still an ongoing project with many new features to launch in the coming future.

We created third-party apps and deployed them to manage customer tier which is selected based on their spendings. The tools will automatically calculate discounts based on the customer tier

The app is fully compliant with ADA to allow the Bokksu store to reach a larger audience and offer inclusivity for all

We successfully used Builder.io to establish smooth coordination among our developers and content creators
Multi-Cart System
Efficiently enabled a multi-cart system of shopping to allow users to shop from multiple categories and have the same checkout

The Results
